Draft Concept of 40km/h High Pedestrian Activity Area Bridge Street, Uralla

A presentation on the Draft Concept Plan by consultant Rupert G H Milne Home was delivered 6.30pm on Tuesday, 27 February at the Uralla Community Centre in the meeting room.

The target audience for this presentation were the occupants of premises along Bridge Street between King and John Street. The event was well attended by approximately 70 people.

Mr Milne Home advised that a legislated 40kph zone is not recommended and that closed in intersections (to reduce the length of travel on the tarmac for pedestrians) together with street planting with improvements to locations and species would introduce a higher level of traffic calming.

Further recommendations included the retention of the existing pedestrian crossing in Bridge Street with approach improvements and the relocation or removal of the of the Hill Street pedestrian crossing while incorporating a median refuge arrangement.

Submissions for the consideration of the consultant will be received up until 31 March 2018. Written submissions should be forwarded to Uralla Shire Council, PO Box 106, Uralla NSW 2358, or emailed to council@uralla.nsw.gov.au
