Water Carting

Uralla Shire Council does not provide a potable water carting service. Residents wishing to purchase bulk volumes of water should engage an appropriately certified water carter.

Pre-payment for bulk water is necessary. Payments can be made at the Uralla Shire Council office on Salisbury Street.

Receipts should be presented at the Uralla Shire Council Depot (Depot Road, off John Street) or the Bundarra Works Depot in order to have the order filled.

The opening hours for both Depots are 6am - 3pm, Monday - Friday.

Information for water carters

Under the Public Health Act 2010 water carters are defined as "drinking water suppliers."

The Public Health Act 2010 and the Public Health Regulation 2012 require drinking water suppliers to:

  • Have a quality assurance program (QAP) that complies with the Regulation;
  • Comply with (i.e. implement) its QAP;
  • Provide a copy of the QAP to the local Public Health Unit; and
  • Keep records relating to managing the safety of its drinking water supply.

In addition Water Carters wishing to access either the Bundarra or Uralla drinking water supplies need to have approval to do so under Section 68 of the Local Government Act 1993 (NSW).

Contact Council on (02) 6778 6300 to speak with a Council officer about applying for Section 68 Approval for Water Carting.

Further detailed information for Water Carters, along with NSW Health guidelines and a template Quality Assurance Program, can be found on the NSW Health web page here.

Water Carters not registered in the Uralla Shire
