About the LSPS

The first version of the Uralla Shire Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) was adopted by Council at its extraordinary meeting held 29 September 2020 and is now open for public comment as part of Council’s review process.

The LSPS applies to the whole Uralla Shire local government area and is a key document to guide local strategic land use planning in the Uralla Shire by demonstrating how change will be managed and identifying local priorities for updating Council strategic documents such as the Local Environmental Plan and Development Control Plan.

The purpose of the LSPS is to:

  • Set a clear 20-year vision for land use in the Uralla Shire.
  • Describe the unique characteristics which contribute to the Uralla Shire local identity.
  • Describe our shared community values.
  • Guide the future growth and change in the Uralla Shire.

The LSPS aims to achieve these goals by outlining the Local Strategic Planning Vision and identifying 13 planning priorities and 34 actions.

The LSPS sets a clear line of sight between the key strategic directions of productivity, liveability, sustainability, and infrastructure. The LSPS plans for the Uralla Shire community’s economic, social and environmental land use needs over the next 20 years to 2040, and will be used by Council and other stakeholders to inform policy development, infrastructure planning, and delivery of services to our community.
