Business Disaster Readiness

Through the NSW Government’s Bushfire Community Resilience and Economic Recovery Fund – Phase 1, Council engaged UNE Partnerships to develop a disaster preparedness webinar for local businesses and to help develop business continuity plans based on Resilience NSW’s Get Ready Business framework.

Presented by Peter Rekers, an internationally recognised leader in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, this training video encourages businesses to explore the importance of preparing your business and learn how to create and implement a Business Continuity Plan using the Resilience NSW Get Ready Business toolkit and a Small Business Recovery Toolkit, both available here:

The toolkit will also link businesses to a 13 step Business Continuity Plan online template provided by the NSW State Emergency Service, here:

By watching the video and working through the Resillience NSW checklist, toolkit and the NSW SES business continuity plan, business owners will:

Understand:

  • Risks to your business
  • Effects of disasters on income
  • Early, Mid-term and Long-term recovery

 Learn to:

  • Identify risks
  • Make an emergency action plan
  • Prepare your business continuity plan
  • Create a recovery plan
