Winter Fun at Uralla Library These School Holidays

Published on 29 July 2025

This July, Uralla Library was abuzz with activity, offering a warm and welcoming space for kids and their grown-ups to get creative and stay entertained during the winter school holidays. The packed program featured two exciting LEGO Challenges, coaster weaving sessions, and plenty of games, puzzles, colouring and craft for all ages. The Indigenous Sand Art workshops were a standout success, and the ever-popular SkyLap Challenge provided a hands-on, engaging STEM experience that was well attended by curious young minds.

But the library’s role as a vibrant community hub extends well beyond the holiday period.

Every Tuesday from 11am to 2pm, our TechHub is open to help residents of all ages get the most out of their devices – whether it's setting up an email account, learning how to navigate websites, or troubleshooting tech problems. No booking is needed (though you’re welcome to secure a spot in advance).

Our Artist of the Month program continues to shine a spotlight on local talent, offering emerging artists the chance to share their work with the community. This month, we’ve proudly featured the beautiful photography of Charlotte Fletcher – drop in during library hours to see her inspiring exhibition.

Tuesdays are also for Storytime, where children can enjoy stories, songs, games and craft activities designed to foster a love of reading and prepare little ones for school. It's also a great social opportunity for parents and carers to meet, chat and connect.

And there’s even more fun for families! New England Family Support Services is now offering a supported playgroup in the library every Wednesday from 10.00am to 12.00pm. It’s a welcoming and relaxed environment where little ones can play and explore, and parents can connect and share. For more information or to register, just get in touch with the library team.

With regular craft groups, our popular History Hub, and an ever-evolving calendar of events, we’ve even launched a dedicated Facebook page to help you stay up to date with everything that’s happening.
