COMMUNITY UPDATE | STORM RECOVERY

Thank you for your patience and support as our Shire continues to recover from the recent snowstorm. Our teams have been working hard to restore services, clear roads, and make sure everyone in our community is safe.

Below is the latest information on essential services, waste and recycling, road closures, facility openings, and support services available. Please share this update with friends, family, and neighbours who may not have access to the internet.

POWER AND SUPPORT SERVICES

  • Power outages are subsiding, but some homes across the Shire are still affected. For the latest updates, visit the Essential Energy website.
  • Free hot showers and laundry facilities are still available at the Queen Street Caravan Park in Uralla for residents experiencing power outages. Phone 0438 567 728 or just drop in.
  • Uralla Library is open as normal and offering free Wi-Fi, device charging, tea, coffee, and Thermos refills. Phone (02) 6778 6470.
  • Open 1pm–5pm today and Friday and Saturday 9:30am–4:30pm (closed for lunch 12–1pm).

 

WASTE AND GREEN WASTE SERVICES

  • An extra general waste collection will operate tomorrow, Friday 8 August, to help manage spoiled food following extended outages. Please place red bins kerbside for this service.
  • Green waste collection is underway across Uralla township. If you have storm-damaged green waste, please move it to the kerb. Crews will collect as vehicles are available in your area and will continue to do so for the coming weeks.
  • The Uralla sports complex green waste drop-off point is open to all residents from 7am to 4pm daily, including this Saturday and Sunday.
  • Bundarra Tip is open as usual, with no charge for storm-damaged green waste.
  • Invergowrie residents can leave storm-damaged green waste at Stockyard Corner on Pine Grove Road. There is no charge for residential storm damage green waste disposal.

      

ROADS AND TRANSPORT

  • Torryburn Bridge remains closed to through traffic. Temporary repairs now allow access for local light vehicles only.
  • Terrible Vale Causeway remains impassable due to flooding.
  • Some rural roads are still being cleared. Crews are working as quickly as possible to restore safe access.
  • Pothole patching is ongoing across the Shire, with priority given to deep or hazardous holes following the storm. Crews will return to address remaining areas in the coming weeks.

 

PARKS AND PUBLIC SPACES

  • The Uralla BMX track and adjoining park is temporarily closed due to storm damage to the shade structure and anchor poles, which has made the area unsafe.
  • The Wooldridge Fossicking Area is also closed due to potential for further falling limbs, Council will continue to assess as to when this campground can be opened to the public again.

 

EVENTS

  • The Bundarra Campdraft has been cancelled due to unsafe conditions at the Showground.

 

COUNCIL SERVICES 

  • Council landlines are now operational. For assistance, please contact us on (02) 6778 6300.
  • Tablelands Community Support is actively checking on registered residents and providing essential services, including delivering food to clients without power and assisting with access to a showers including transport to and from for those in need. For assistance, phone (02) 6778 6350.
  • Tablelands Community Transport is operating as normal and assisting with transport needs. Phone (02) 6778 6450.
  • McMaugh Gardens is operating as normal and welcoming residents, visitors, and families as usual.
