Testing Rainwater Tanks for Potential Elevated Arsenic

Council is now able to procure testing for rainwater tank users who may have received arsenic affected water from the Uralla Town Water Supply prior to the Do Not Drink alert being issued.

Residents are requested to provide the following:

  1. Evidence of water delivery from Uralla Shire Council with delivery docket or invoice;
  2. Water sampled from the affected tank in a rinsed, clean glass or plastic bottle with a minimum volume of 500mL;
  3. The bottle must be clearly labelled and include the following information:

a. Contact Name;
b. Address at which the tank is located;
c. Contact phone number;
d. Email address (optional, but preferable);
e. Date the tank sample was taken; and
f. Size of the tank from which the sample was taken.

Samples will be issued to a NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities) accredited laboratory for testing. Results may take up to two weeks.

Council will then advise of the owner of the arsenic test result.

If you have any questions or require further information, please contact Council’s Customer Service Centre on (02) 6778 6300 or email council@uralla.nsw.gov.au.
