Uralla Levels Up with First-Ever Esports Event
Published on 28 July 2025
We recently played host to an exciting and first-of-its-kind event for the region, as Uralla Court House was transformed into a four-day Esports tournament. Presented by Hillview Energy Hub in partnership with Uralla Shire Council, the event brought together young people and families for a series of competitive gaming sessions that proved to be a major hit with the community.
Over three consecutive days, under-18s participated in organised gameplay, with approximately 50 attendees each day. The event culminated in an all-ages Mario Kart Cup on the Friday night, attracting a lively crowd of 70 participants and spectators. The response from the community was overwhelmingly positive, with many locals expressing enthusiasm for the event and hopes that it will become a regular fixture in Uralla’s calendar.
Adding to the excitement, the Esports event caught the attention of the media, and was featured on Channel 7 News on Friday 18 July.
This was a fantastic and innovative event, showcasing the growing interest in digital recreation and offering young people and families in the region a new and inclusive way to come together. Uralla Shire Council would like to thank Hillview Energy Hub for their support in bringing this unique experience to life, and we look forward to exploring more opportunities like this in the future.
