Uralla Shire Council has been named a finalist in the 2025 Local Government Awards, recognised for its Uralla Christmas Street Fair in the RH Dougherty Events and Communications Award – Innovation in Special Events category.

The annual Local Government Awards celebrate outstanding achievements across councils in New South Wales, with a focus on excellence in service delivery, community engagement, infrastructure, and leadership. The RH Dougherty Awards specifically recognise innovation in local government communications and events that make a tangible difference in their communities.

Uralla is one of seven councils shortlisted in the Innovation in Special Events category (0-30,000 residents) alongside Armidale, Brewarrina, Gilgandra, Gunnedah, Narrabri  and Weddin Shire Council.

Mayor Robert Bell welcomed the news, describing the nomination as a proud moment for Council and the community.

“To be recognised among councils from across the state for an event that brought our community together is a real honour,” said the Mayor.

“The Uralla Christmas Street Fair was a true collaboration between Council, local businesses, volunteers, and residents and this nomination is a testament to what we can achieve together.”

Stay tuned for the results, and congratulations to all the finalists for their contribution to vibrant and connected communities.
