Council’s breakfast forum held Wednesday, 25 November 2020 brought together local businesses and developers to provide information on the development application and assessment process and to encourage commercial, industrial, and residential development in the Shire.

Presentations were made by Council’s Manager of Development and Planning, Building Certifier consultant, and the Manager of Waste, Water and Sewerage.

The forum covered a wide range of topics, including the value of pre-development meetings, digital submission of development applications, the quality of documentation, role of consultants, Council’s role in the process, project management, and the execution of subdivisions.

The forum was planned to run from 7:30am to 8:30am so as not to conflict with the attendees’ daily schedules, however due to the amount of questions and discussions raised, the forum did not close until approximately 10:00am.

Due to the interest generated by the event, Council plans to conduct developer forums on a regular basis as a way to continually engage with developers and businesses.

Following on from the forum Council will circulate a survey which will seek feedback from participants on what information should be covered in future forums.

The survey will also request feedback on what information should be available on Council’s website to inform Council’s ongoing website improvement project.

Uralla Shire Mayor, Cr Michael Pearce said he was delighted by the number of attendees who registered for the forum and the amount of questions raised during the forum.

“Today’s forum is just the first of what will be an ongoing initiative,” Mayor Pearce said.

“Council is committed to keeping an open, ongoing dialogue with the local business and developer community.”

“Both Council and developers benefit from these opportunities for increased communication, and working together will benefit the future development of the Shire.”

The presentation from the forum is available on the Council website here.
