Holiday at Home in Uralla Shire

Published on 02 October 2020

With the commencement of the school holidays and the long weekend fast approaching, there is lots to do in the Uralla Shire.

With COVID-19 travel restrictions and precautions in place these school holidays Uralla Shire Council is encouraging residents to consider trying a ‘staycation’ and exploring what the Shire has to offer.

Uralla Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Michael Pearce said that there was plenty to see and do over the holiday period including free family activities at Uralla Library.

“There are a range of activities for families to take advantage of the many programs hosted by the Uralla Library. The Uralla Library is holding a number of activities and workshops on the theme Reading Gives You Wings, inspired by the Uralla Fairy Doors initiative.”

“Whether for the whole family or solo traveller, nature lovers or heritage enthusiasts, our Shire has something for everyone – all within an easy day-trip distance.”

“This is the perfect opportunity to visit the attractions in our Shire and support our local business owners who are doing it tough,” Mayor Pearce said.

“From outstanding fine food and craft drink producers across the Shire to the Aniwan Cultural Collection at the Visitor Information Centre or McCrossins Mill Museum in Uralla, fossicking at the Wooldridge Fossicking Reserve, bird-watching at Dangars Lagoon, or viewing the Aboriginal cave paintings at Mount Yarrowyck – there’s more to do in our Shire than meets the eye.”

Residents and visitors can contact the Uralla Visitor Information Centre (VIC) for more information on local attractions, destinations, and producers.

Further information on activities and local destinations in the Uralla Shire is available on the Visit Uralla website at Uralla.com.

Council urges the community to follow COVID Safe practices and NSW Health Guidelines these school holidays including staying home and getting tested if you are feeling unwell. Up-to-date information on COVID-19 public health orders and restrictions are available on the NSW Health website.
