Uralla Shire Council joined members of the Uralla Tennis Club and Tennis NSW to celebrate the official opening and completion of the upgrades to the Uralla Sporting Complex and Uralla Tennis Courts on Saturday, 6 March 2021.

The upgrades to the Uralla Sporting Complex and Tennis Courts were funded by the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 2 grant funding program.

The Uralla Tennis Courts formed a major portion of the project, with refurbishment of four of the six courts and installation of lighting.

Upgrades to the Sporting Complex consisted of security upgrades for the clubhouse, play equipment, car park sealing, signage, exercise equipment, grandstands, refurbishment of cricket nets and pitch, roof repairs, lighting, BBQs, goal posts, shelters and seating, and internal painting of the clubhouse.

Uralla Shire Mayor, Cr Michael Pearce said the project completion was a huge win for the Uralla community.

“The project delivers on Council’s commitment to provide accessible, quality sport and recreation facilities for the Uralla Shire and encourage participation for an active and healthy community.”

“The refurbishment and upgrades to the Uralla Sporting Complex and Tennis Courts were made possible by the NSW Government’s funding, and we thank Mr Marshall for his continued advocacy on behalf of the Uralla Shire community,” Mayor Pearce said.

Through this round of funding, the NSW Government invested $1.5 million in the Uralla Shire to provide high quality community and sports-related infrastructure. Of this amount, $406,826 was allocated to the Uralla Sporting Complex and Uralla Tennis Courts upgrade.

The opening event was held Saturday, 6 March 2021 with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a BBQ lunch. Remarks were made by Mayor Pearce and the Uralla Tennis Club read a statement from Member for Northern Tablelands, Mr Adam Marshall MP who congratulated Council and the Uralla Tennis Club on the completion of the project.
