Uralla Shire Council hosted a premiere screening of a new documentary at the Uralla Court House on Friday 23 May, shining a light on the incredible volunteers in the community.

The documentary, which screened as part of National Volunteers Week, featured interviews with over 30 inspirational community members representing more than 50 local community groups, who shared their stories and experiences.

The result was a powerful, uplifting short film that paid tribute to the volunteers who keep the heart of the Shire beating. It told stories of resilience, generosity, humour, and hard work — all delivered in the unmistakable voices of the people who live and give locally.

Uralla Shire Mayor, Robert Bell, said the documentary was a chance to highlight those in the community who give so much.

“Volunteers are the quiet strength of our community — they show up, step up, and make life better for everyone around them. This documentary was our chance to acknowledge them and share their stories far and wide,” he said.

All were welcome to attend the free premiere documentary screening, especially those involved in community organisations or volunteering across Uralla Shire.
