Uralla Awarded Funding for Level Crossing Safety Upgrades

Uralla Shire Council has welcomed more than $211,000 in funding, shared with Armidale Regional Council, under the NSW Government’s Level Crossing Improvement Program – Regional Council Minor Works.
The funding will allow Council to carry out essential resurfacing and line marking at five local level crossings: Eastern Avenue, Eastern Avenue South, Wollun Road, Gostwyck Road and Thunderbolts Way.
Member for Northern Tablelands Brendan Moylan said the upgrades would address serious safety issues on regional roads.
“This funding tackles serious safety issues which helps protect lives and supports our regional road network,” Moylan said
Council’s Director of Infrastructure and Development, Mick Raby, said the works would have a direct safety benefit for the community.
“This funding will enable us to deliver much-needed improvements at local level crossings, reducing risks and making our roads safer for drivers, cyclists and pedestrians,” Mr Raby said.
“We thank the NSW Government for supporting rural councils like ours with practical, preventative infrastructure funding.”
The Level Crossing Improvement Program – Regional Council Minor Works is part of a broader $7.3 million annual state-wide initiative, with $1.17 million allocated this round to 21 regional councils, improving 81 crossings across New South Wales.
Works in Uralla Shire are expected to commence in the coming months, with updates to be provided via Council’s website.
