Uralla Shire Council is undertaking important sewer manhole inspection works across Uralla and Bundarra as part of a condition assessment and rehabilitation planning project. These works are critical to maintaining the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our local sewer network.
What’s Happening?
Council has engaged specialist contractor Fitt Resources Pty Ltd to inspect around 600 sewer manholes throughout the region. The inspections involve:
-
GPS and digital condition assessments
-
Surface-level manhole inspections (no confined space entry required in most cases)
-
Collection of data on structure integrity, location, and depth
When Will This Occur?
Works commenced on 7 July 2025 and will continue for approximately 4 to 6 weeks.
Inspections will generally be carried out during daylight hours, Monday to Friday, between 7:00am and 5:00pm.
Access to Private Properties
Some manholes are located on private land. If access is required:
-
You will receive a notification at least 48 hours in advance
-
Fitt Resources staff will carry official identification
-
Access will be limited to the manhole area no excavation or service disruption will occur
-
All sites will be left clean, safe and secure
Important Reminder – Dogs on Properties
Residents must ensure all dogs are securely restrained during the scheduled inspection period. If crews are unable to safely access a manhole due to unsecured animals, the property owner may be charged for a return visit.
Obstructions on Council Infrastructure
If Council infrastructure (e.g., manholes) on private property is obstructed by buildings, landscaping, or fencing, property owners may be liable for any resulting delays, damage, or environmental impacts.
It is the responsibility of the property owner to ensure safe and reasonable access to all sewer infrastructure.
