Stay at home restrictions lifted across Uralla Shire

No longer on display. Expired on 24 September 2021, 05:00 PM

From midnight tonight, Uralla Shire joins other Local Government Areas across the New England region in celebrating a relaxation of the stay-at-home restrictions that have been applied by NSW Health over the past four weeks to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19.

For the Uralla Shire, this means that some Council Services (which are deemed non-essential and therefore have been non-operational) will be able to commence operations again.

The status of Council’s facilities and services are kept up-to-date at: https://www.uralla.nsw.gov.au/Community/COVID-19-Information/COVID-19-Facilities-Update

A summary of changes is also included below.

Please note: Strict COVIDSafe practices will be in place based on the current public health order such as wearing of facemasks, QR sign in, social distancing and 1 person per 4m2 rules. The health and safety of our community is always our first priority.

While some services could be opened on Saturday, the decision has been made to use that time to prepare the COVID safe environment according to the latest Public Health Order, which is still currently being drafted.

It is also possible that services may need to close within a 24 hour period should a snap lockdown be declared. Council will endeavour to issue a public notice and update its website as soon as practicable in these circumstances.

Customer Service: From Monday 13 September, Council’s customer service centre at 32 Salisbury St Uralla will be open for face-to-face transactions in addition to phone and online services. Opening hours are from 8.30am – 4.30pm on weekdays with lunchtime closure between 1pm – 2pm. Phone (02) 6778 6300.

Uralla Library: From Monday 13 September, Uralla Library will be open to the public as per its Monday opening hours, which are from 1pm – 5pm, and for regular hours throughout the rest of the week. Staff will use the weekend to process returned library books and establish updated COVIDSafe protocols. To find out about the status of regular library activities call the library on (02) 6778 6470.

Visitor Information Centre: Staff members from the VIC are preparing for its reopening on Monday, subject to Public Health Order restrictions. Online services continue. The phone number for the VIC is (02) 6778 6420.

Tablelands Community Transport: Planning is underway for the return of some services including the weekly groups. For more information call TCT on 02) 6778 6450.

Tablelands Community Support: Planning is underway for Home Care and other services that have been on hold during the lockdown to be re-introduced next week; however, there may be variations to regular programming as staff catch up on a backlog of work (02) 6778 6350.

McMaugh Gardens: Staff at McMaugh Gardens will introduce strict COVIDSafe protocols for visitors as soon as advice from NSW Health is received permitting visits for family and friends of residents. For more information call McMaugh’s on (02) 6778 6380.

Civic leadership: Councillors will have the option to participate in meetings in Council Chambers or via Zoom. A small public gallery will be permitted subject to 1 person per 4m2 rules.

Staff: Council Staff who have been working from home will transition back to the office environment.

Essential service crews: Water, waste, sewer, parks and road crews have been working largely as usual over the past weeks. COVIDSafe operating plans will be updated as the latest information becomes available as to how many staff members can travel together in vehicles and other COVIDSafe requirements.

Thank you to the Uralla Shire community who continue to work together and alongside Council to keep Uralla Shire free of COVID-19.
