Swimming pool to open this weekend

Sporting an upgraded kiosk and new accessible toilet and family change room, Uralla Swimming Pool is in great shape as the pool season begins this weekend on Saturday 23 October.

Adam Marshall MP will join Uralla Shire Council’s Mayor Michael Pearce and General Manager Kate Jessep for the official opening at 11.45am, with the pool opening for the first dips of the season at midday.

Proof of vaccination is required for all visitors over 16 until 1 December, when changes to the Public Health Order are expected. A one person per 2m2 limit currently applies. Eftpos is preferred to help minimise cash handling.

Visitors to the pool are welcome to relax on the grass or picnic tables, fire up the free BBQ, and keep cool under the shade sails.

“The pool is such a popular place for recreation over the warmer months,” said Mayor Michael Pearce.

“On average, our community will make about 10,000 visits to the pool over the season,” Mayor Pearce said, “whether that’s for lap swimming, families with young children or to cool off after school.”

The Uralla Swimming Pool has a 25 metre pool with undercover seating and a shaded toddler pool with a fun snake splash fountain. The pools are solar heated.

Although the pool is supervised by a qualified lifeguard, all children under 10 years of age must be supervised by an accompanying adult at all times.

Other recent upgrades include expanded car park with disabled parking, upgraded office and PA systems. Upgrades for recent works have been made possible by grants from the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities program, Drought Stimulus Package and the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Extension Program.
