LEVEL 1 WATER RESTRICTIONS TO COMMENCE FOR URALLA TOWNSHIP

Uralla Shire Council is committed to managing our water resources responsibly and proactively. As a community, we all have a role to play in preserving our water resources now and into the future. To guide this, Council continues to closely monitor dam storage levels, weather conditions and projected demand to ensure long-term water security for the Uralla Township water supply.

To help protect the town water supply, Level 1 water restrictions will come into effect from 5.00 pm on 28 January 2026. These restrictions apply only to properties within the Uralla Township that are connected to the town water supply, based on current storage levels and forecast conditions.

Under Level 1 restrictions, the following requirements apply:

  • Watering of lawns, gardens and new turf is permitted outside these hours.

Vehicle washing

  • Vehicle washing using buckets or hand-held hoses fitted with trigger nozzles is permitted.

Hard surface cleaning

  • Cleaning hard surfaces using a high-pressure cleaner only is permitted.
Use of hand-held hoses for this purpose is not permitted.

Swimming pools

  • Filling of private swimming pools is not permitted.
  • Motel pools may only be topped up with Council approval for volumes exceeding 5 kilolitres.
  • Council swimming pools may be topped up as required.

Public spaces and commercial activities

  • Council irrigation of parks, gardens, sports fields and public spaces within the Uralla Township is permitted outside the heat of the day.
  • Commercial, educational and industrial landscaping and irrigation within the Uralla Township must not occur between 10.00 am and 5.00 pm.

Other uses

  • Use of water for evaporative cooling, treated water for stock and domestic purposes, and other approved essential uses may continue where connected to the town water supply.

Ongoing Monitoring

The implementation of water restrictions is subject to ongoing assessment of factors including available water storage, weather and climate forecasts, and the need to maintain compliance with the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines and the Public Health Act 2010 (NSW).

Council staff will continue to monitor conditions and will update the community should restrictions change.
